The short version: TameRent collects the information needed to run your landlord management platform — property details, rent payments, tenant information, and financial data. We use it to provide the service, never to sell to advertisers. You control your data and can request deletion at any time.
1. Who We Are
TameRent is a property management software platform operated by Lael Properties, LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company located in Union City, Tennessee. References to "TameRent," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to Lael Properties, LLC and its products including TameRent and TameFi.

2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Account registration information — name, email address, phone number, password
- Business information — company name, EIN, business address
- Property information — property addresses, unit details, rent amounts, lease terms
- Tenant information — tenant names, contact information, and lease details you enter
- Financial information — bank account details for payouts (processed via Stripe and Plaid)
- Documents — lease agreements, receipts, maintenance photos, and other files you upload
- Communications — messages sent between landlords and tenants through the platform
Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage data — pages visited, features used, time spent, clicks, and navigation patterns
- Device information — browser type, operating system, IP address, device identifiers
- Log data — server logs, error reports, and performance data
- Cookies and similar technologies — session management, preferences, and analytics
Information From Third Parties
- Payment data from Stripe — transaction confirmations, payout records, dispute information
- Bank verification data from Plaid — account ownership verification and balance confirmation
- Tenant screening data from TransUnion SmartMove — credit reports, background checks, and eviction history (landlord-initiated only, with tenant consent)
- Identity verification data as required for financial compliance
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the TameRent platform and associated products
- Process rent payments and transfer funds between tenants and landlords
- Send transactional notifications — rent reminders, payment confirmations, maintenance updates, lease signing requests, and account alerts via SMS and email
- Generate lease documents, financial reports, and tax summaries (Schedule E)
- Facilitate tenant screening with your authorization
- Provide customer support and respond to your inquiries
- Ensure platform security and prevent fraud
- Comply with legal obligations including tax reporting and financial regulations
- Analyze usage patterns to improve our products (using aggregated, anonymized data)
We do not sell your personal information to advertisers or third-party data brokers. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
4. SMS Communications
TameRent sends SMS messages to landlords and tenants who have opted in to receive notifications. By providing your phone number and checking the SMS consent box during account registration or tenant onboarding, you agree to receive transactional SMS messages including:
- Rent due reminders and payment confirmations
- Late fee notices
- Maintenance request updates
- Lease signing requests and renewal notices
- Account security and verification codes
Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your account activity. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any TameRent SMS message. Reply HELP for assistance. For support email support@tamerent.com.
TameRent SMS messages are sent via Twilio. Your phone number is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
5. How We Share Your Information
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers
We share data with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate the platform. These providers are contractually bound to protect your data and may only use it to provide services to TameRent:
- Stripe — payment processing and payout management
- Plaid — bank account verification
- Twilio — SMS and email notifications
- TransUnion SmartMove — tenant screening (landlord-initiated with tenant consent)
- Anthropic — AI-powered features including lease generation and receipt categorization
- Netlify / Vercel — website and application hosting
Between Landlords and Tenants
Certain information is shared between landlords and tenants as part of the platform's core functionality — lease terms, rent amounts, maintenance requests, and communications. This sharing is inherent to the service and necessary for the platform to function.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information when required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or ensure the safety of our users.
Business Transfers
If TameRent or Lael Properties, LLC is acquired, merged, or undergoes a business transfer, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
6. Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement industry-standard security measures including:
- SSL/TLS encryption for all data transmitted to and from TameRent
- Encrypted storage of sensitive financial information
- Secure handling of bank credentials via Plaid — TameRent never stores your full bank account numbers
- Payment card data is handled entirely by Stripe — TameRent never stores card numbers
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Access controls limiting employee access to user data on a need-to-know basis
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@tamerent.com.
7. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Specifically:
- Account information is retained for the duration of your subscription plus 7 years for tax and legal compliance purposes
- Financial transaction records are retained for 7 years per IRS requirements
- Tenant screening reports are retained per FCRA guidelines
- Communications and messages are retained for 3 years after account closure
- You may request deletion of your data at any time — see Section 9 for your rights
8. Cookies and Tracking
TameRent uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to:
- Keep you logged in during your session
- Remember your preferences and settings
- Analyze how the platform is used to improve features
- Ensure platform security and prevent fraud
You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect some platform functionality. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.
9. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements
- Portability — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Opt-out of SMS — reply STOP to any TameRent SMS message at any time
- Opt-out of email — click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email (transactional emails required for service cannot be opted out while your account is active)
- Account deletion — contact us to close your account and request data deletion

10. Children's Privacy
TameRent is a business software platform intended for adults 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@tamerent.com and we will promptly delete it.
11. FCRA Notice — Tenant Screening
TameRent facilitates tenant screening reports through TransUnion SmartMove. These reports are consumer reports under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). If you are a landlord using our screening features:
- You may only use screening reports for permissible purposes under the FCRA
- If you take adverse action based on a report, you must provide the applicant with an adverse action notice as required by the FCRA
- TameRent provides compliant adverse action notice templates for this purpose
If you are a tenant whose information has been used in a screening report, you have rights under the FCRA including the right to dispute inaccurate information. Contact TransUnion directly at transunion.com for more information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify you by email and by posting a notice on the TameRent platform. Your continued use of TameRent after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.
13. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee. Any disputes arising under this policy shall be resolved in the courts of Obion County, Tennessee.
