About TameRent

The platform built for the
independent landlord.

TameRent is a property management platform built specifically for independent residential landlords — people managing 1 to 25 units who have long been underserved by expensive software designed for large property management companies.

The platform combines online rent collection, tenant screening, lease management, maintenance tracking, and Marlo — an AI property advisor named after Marlon Perkins of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom — all in one place. TameRent's credit model means landlords pay no monthly software fee in any month their tenants pay electronically.

Founded by Jeff Goddard, a real estate entrepreneur, house flipper, and clinical informaticist with over 20 years of experience working with independent landlords. Goddard built TameRent because he believed independent landlords deserved better tools and that building something which genuinely serves people is worth doing. TameRent was built in 31 days using Claude Code, an AI development tool from Anthropic, with no outside funding and no development team. The platform launched in June 2026 and is initially available to landlords in Tennessee and Kentucky, with national expansion planned for September 2026.

Goddard describes the project simply: build something honest, price it fairly, and treat every landlord and tenant with respect. That philosophy is woven into every feature.
